Children from schools participating in the Creative Schools Partnership Programme had an opportunity to come together to meet one another and take workshops designed to share learning, teach new skills and build confidence through the arts.
The three Creative Schools Ambassador events were held at the end of March. Belfast Boys’ Model, Blessed Trinity College and Mercy College Belfast met at the Duncairn Arts Centre in North Belfast. Ashfield Girls’ High School and St Vincent’s Centre met at Linenhall Library in Belfast City Centre and St Joseph’s Boys’ High School and St Cecilia’s College met in Derry/Londonderry. The sessions were facilitated by a range of artists: Ayesha Mailey, a dancer with Echo Echo, Shena Kelly, a dancer with Du Dance, DJ Cahir Glen, filmmaker Graham Ginty, singer/songwriter Dan Ferguson and actors Jazzmin McClure, Christina Nelson and Rob Crawford.
As part of Good Relations Week, Positive Steps will be participating in a “paper riot” event, where they will share their own perspectives and listen to their peers’ opinions on community relations. Following this, the team will proceed to design canvases based on various themes of good relations.

The John and Pat Hume Foundation are delighted to announce our third event in honour of Seamus Mallon ‘A Shared Home Place’ at 7.00pm on Friday 22 September 2023 in the Canal Court Hotel, 29 Merchants Quay, Newry, BT35 6HR.
Seamus Mallon was committed to the genuine reconciliation of conflicting traditions using only peaceful means.
The Hume Foundation believe it is vitally important that we recall the generous words in his book ‘A Shared Home Place’ and engage in a positive, inclusive and challenging conversation about people, peace and politics for the next 25 years.
Speakers include:
- Enda Kenny, former Taoiseach,
- Dermot Ahern, former Irish Government Minister
- Ian Marshall, former member of the Seanad,
- Sharon Haughey, former Lord Mayor of Armagh City & District,
- Orla Mallon, Seamus Mallon’s daughter,
- Tim O’Connor, former Irish diplomat.
The discussion will be chaired by Sean O’Rourke, Irish journalist and broadcaster.
As part of Good Relations Week, Ballycastle Library invites everyone to chose either a blank or worded brick art craft sheet and select a word, that you feel unites your community together and to colour, scribble, draw or design your art template to help us build our project and display of good relations within your community’.
Building Connections Creatively will use the arts and creative storytelling to build connections with groups of people who would otherwise not meet. This workshop will enable discussions, dispel myths and create a greater awareness of what good relations means to us today.

NWIA would like to welcome local women to visit their centre to gain insight into the lives of Muslim women, to chat, ask questions about their culture, values and traditions. Through getting TOGETHER it will, dispel myths and misconceptions while creating a greater understanding among women.
