BCRC’S Connection Day

BCRC is a charity supporting community and civil society organisations with diverse projects and programmes including social, cultural, health and economic development to benefit communities belonging to the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough and its environs.

This event will encourage existing network members of BCRC to get together within a safe shared space and reconnect after 2 years of working remotely and explore the concept of ‘ change starts with us’ during Good Relations Week.

We are looking forward to welcoming new members from other groups and organisations within the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough.

This will be an opportunity to share recent life experiences as a group working during the COVID pandemic and for sharing new project ideas that could lead to working collaboratively, creating new partnership opportunities and helping to ensure sustainable communities for the future.

Music, Culture and Marching Bands (Study trip to Laggan)

This project entitled ‘Music, Culture and Marching Bands.’ (Study trip to Laggan) will provide a programme for participants on a cross border basis to examine and explore local culture, music, history, identity and marching bands.

This will be a taster session to a larger programme which will be delivered later in the year. It will provide participants with the chance to get involved in a music session, offering opportunities to try out a new instrument and acknowledging instruments linked to marching bands etc.

This project will also help to foster a strong relationship between Dervock Village in County Antrim, Coagh in County Tyrone and the Laggan area within Co Donegal. This project will bring members from the Laggan Community Association together with members from Dervock & District Community Association and  the village of Coagh.

This online session will offer participants an opportunity to learn about the roles that members of the Key Institutions play within our local communities and wider afield.

Members of the Key Institutions will also have the opportunity to learn from each other. Participants will have the opportunity to listen to representatives from The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH), The Apprentice Boys of Derry (ABOD), Royal  British Legion (RBL), The Loyal Orange Order, (LOL), GAA, Masons, Marching Bands and Ulster Special Constabulary Association (USCA).

Celebration of learning / Practising Language

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council are celebrating Good Relations Week by hosting an afternoon of learning for participants who are learning English as part of an ESOL programme.

ESOL classes have been delivered specifically for the new arrivals from Ukraine who are really keen to learn basic English to assist them in settling into the Causeway area. The class will help improve outcomes for adults and children who use English as a second or additional language.

Families will come together for a therapeutic kite making workshop during which they will have the opportunity to express themselves though art whilst practising the English language.
