Sew Ready | Behind the Seams

This event aims to bring the community together through a united interest in sewing/garment production on an industrial scale.

Due to Brexit and shift in consumer shopping trends, the return of manufacturing to the UK is only a matter of time. As interest in re-shoring grows, Sew Ready is a social enterprise enabling that growth by offering specialised training in sewing, being industry champions ensuring the UK & NI are future ready.

This workshop is the perfect opportunity to gain an insight into industrial manufacturing. Open to all, you will have a guided tour around an operating work floor in Beaufort Interiors in Lisburn, viewing the various sewing machines used in production and even have an opportunity to use them.

This is a brilliant way for all age groups, local businesses, community groups and the general public to join us on Tuesday 27th September for an educational and exciting evening learning about Northern Irish Manufacturing.

Community Academy Shared Learning Event: Good Relations, Shared Space & Future Opportunities

The Community Academy is a capacity building programme, supported by the Urban Villages (UV) initiative in The Executive Office (TEO) and developed and delivered by Resurgam and Fermanagh Trusts.

The programme provides one-to-one support for UV local groups which builds on the Trusts’ collective experience of community-led approaches to regeneration, social enterprise, early interventions, volunteering, philanthropy and fundraising.

Resurgam and Fermanagh Trusts have mentored and supported a range of community organisations that are connected to the capital build projects across the five Urban Village areas.

The Trusts have provided local and practical support to help build capacity with capital project leads to support more sustainable outcomes, which will reduce reliance on government support in the future. Interventions include support on governance & procedures; strategic/operational planning, board advice and communications.

Shared Learning Event: good Relations, Shared space, and Future Opportunities

This Community Academy NI presents an opportunity to hear good practice examples of good relations and shared space in NI, what has worked and what has not. SEUPB, TEO and the Good Relations Council representatives will give an overview of future opportunities.

This event is available to attend in person at Lagan Valley Island, Lisburn, BT27 4RL or via zoom. Please indicate your preference.

Atlas Women’s Centre – Poem ‘brighter days ahead’

Early Childhood settings reflect Brighter Days Ahead. Early years settings with a diverse range of practitioners, children and family backgrounds, were invited and encouraged to consider what ‘Brighter Days Ahead’ means to them.

We have captured their creative interpretation of this through the voice of the child and those who care for them, based on the Good Relations Week theme.
