Change Starts With Us – Increasing Ethnic Diversity in the NI Environment Sector

Northern Ireland Environment Link is running a workshop with a good relations focus, on how the NI environment sector can encourage a higher level of engagement and participation of people from diverse ethnic backgrounds.

What?

Recent research has identified a lower than average level of ethnic diversity in the UK environment sector. This event aims to share preliminary insight into the Northern Ireland levels and nature of engagement of those from a BAME background with environmental organisations, issues, projects, and activities. There will also be a workshop element encouraging participants to share their thoughts on ‘barriers to’ and ‘recommendations for’ increasing diversity in the NI environment sector. The outcomes of this event will be included in a final report which will help inform future actions for increasing diversity in the NI environment sector.

Who?

This event is open to 30 people from organisations representing BAME groups and environment organisations which are members of Northern Ireland Environment Link.

When?

Thursday 22nd September 2022 (10.15am  – 12.30pm)

Where?

Peter Froggatt Centre, Queens University Belfast
