Seamus Mallon – ‘A Shared Home Place’

The John and Pat Hume Foundation are delighted to announce our third event in honour of Seamus Mallon ‘A Shared Home Place’ at 7.00pm on Friday 22 September 2023 in the Canal Court Hotel, 29 Merchants Quay, Newry, BT35 6HR.

Seamus Mallon was committed to the genuine reconciliation of conflicting traditions using only peaceful means.

The Hume Foundation believe it is vitally important that we recall the generous words in his book ‘A Shared Home Place’ and engage in a positive, inclusive and challenging conversation about people, peace and politics for the next 25 years.

Speakers include:

  • Enda Kenny, former Taoiseach,
  • Dermot Ahern, former Irish Government Minister
  • Ian Marshall, former member of the Seanad,
  • Sharon Haughey, former Lord Mayor of Armagh City & District,
  • Orla Mallon, Seamus Mallon’s daughter,
  • Tim O’Connor, former Irish diplomat.

The discussion will be chaired by Sean O’Rourke, Irish journalist and broadcaster.
