Mythbusting Seminar: Navigating Northern Ireland’s Constitutional Conversations
Join us for an insightful ‘mythbusting’ seminar featuring Orna Young from FactCheck NI, who will address the challenges and importance of discussing the Northern Ireland constitutional issue with honesty and accuracy. This session is part of our Future Relationship Conversations project.
Aligned with this year’s theme of ‘OpportUNiTY’, this seminar offers a valuable opportunity to engage with accurate and accessible information about constitutional matters in Northern Ireland. By promoting clear and truthful dialogue, we create opportunities for informed decision-making and constructive conversations that are essential for a well-informed community.
Through this seminar, we aim to empower individuals with the knowledge needed to navigate complex constitutional discussions, fostering greater understanding and collaborative engagement within our society.
The induction event is part of a wider week-long programme running from the 16th to the 22nd of September 2024, to celebrate our belief in the power of good relations through sports. These sessions are designed to equip coaches with the tools and knowledge necessary to foster unity and understanding among young people from diverse backgrounds. By integrating the principles of peacebuilding into sports, we aim to demonstrate how athletic activities can be a powerful medium for breaking down barriers and building lasting connections in communities that have been historically divided.
The training sessions will not only enhance the skills of our coaches but also deepen their understanding of how sports can be used as a vehicle for promoting good relations. Through these sessions, we are reinforcing our commitment to creating safe and inclusive spaces where young people can come together, regardless of their cultural or religious backgrounds. By aligning these training opportunities with Good Relations Week, we are highlighting the significant role that sports play in our broader efforts to build peace and foster positive relationships across Northern Ireland.
If you’d like to learn more and are interested in becoming a Coach or a Lead Coach with PeacePlayers, you can attend our PeacePlayers Induction Day where you will get to know our mission, meet our committed team, and learn how you can contribute to our vital work.
If you would like to attend, please email Paula at pmccurdy@peaceplayers.org for more details.
For this Good Relations Week, join the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) in this workshop session to learn about and plan for Holocaust Memorial Day 2025.
Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) – the international day on 27 January to remember the 6 million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people killed under Nazi persecution of other groups and during more recent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. It is a time to come together and remember those who were murdered, and those who survived and work together to build a better future free from identity-based persecution.
This workshop will introduce the theme for HMD 2025: for a better future, and provide support, resources and ideas for you to mark HMD in an engaging and meaningful way.
HMD is a time for unity and togetherness – only by embracing inclusivity and diversity can we create the better world we look for.
