Qigong Workshops

Join us for a restorative two-hour Qigong workshop,
blending movement, breath, and meditation to nurture
wellbeing and connection. Qigong (pronounced cheegong) is an ancient Chinese practice, rooted in Traditional
Chinese Medicine, that has supported health and
balance for over 4,000 years.
Through gentle, flowing exercises, mindful breathing, and
meditative awareness, Qigong helps to restore energy,
reduce stress, and bring harmony to body and mind.
Suitable for all ages and abilities, these workshops offer
an accessible introduction to a practice that enhances
circulation, calms the nervous system, and fosters
resilience.
Led by experienced instructor David Barr, you’ll explore
both the philosophy and practical foundations of Qigong
while experiencing its power to restore calm, vitality, and
presence.
No experience is required – just comfortable clothing
and an openness to connect with yourself and others in a
supportive, healing space.

North West – Good Relations Leadership

The CRC Core Funded groups in the North West have come together to collectively organise and facilitate this session.

This event will allow space for people to share their frustrations at how the world seems to be moving towards extremes both locally and globally. An opportunity to showcase the good relations work supported by the Community Relations Council core funded groups and to support each other through challenging conversations locally.

At the event we’ll hear from Katy Hayward (QUB & IFI Board Member) who will consider the challenges for community relations work now and in the near future and on how the changing global context and general shift to the right in politics impacts on the work. An insight into the future work of IFI will also be shared.

We’ll also have input from Karina Pieterson and Damien McNally from the Community Relations Council on the place of good relations work in our changing world.

There will also be space for discussion with local good relations focused organisations and practitioners.

Parallel Histories Stormont Debate Workshop – Ballycastle High School

Parallel Histories are delighted that Ballycastle High School is taking part in the Parallel Histories/Good Relations Week Debates on controversial Northern Irish histories at Stormont on 13th September.

At the Stormont debates, students from across Northern Ireland will investigate the controversial histories of Northern Ireland. This workshop is to prepare them for working on sensitive topics with people the same age from across communities. They will focus on collaboratively investigating and then articulating views drawn from sources first from one side and then from the other in conversational debate. In the process they will learn how histories have been constructed and develop the skills and confidence they need to listen, question, and arrive at their own, informed choices.
