North Belfast Multicultural family Fun Day

Ardoyne Youth Enterprise is hosting a multicultural celebration and family fun day on Saturday 23 September 2023 from 1-4pm.

The event with feature food from around the world, workshops: drumming, arts and crafts, henna tattoo station, local and international music as well as bouncy castles

This is a free event and all youth groups and families are welcome.

St. Columba’s Heritage Walk

St. Columba, St. Colmcille or St. Columb? What ever name you use, you will get the opportunity to explore a story that spans over 1500 years.  We will take you on a trail of discovery that looks at a Shared Christian Heritage.  We will meet at St. Columba’s Cafe in the Park at 9.30 am for tea / coffee before our guided walk at 10 am.  Please wear appropriate gear.  This is a gentle walk and will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

PEACE IN THE PARK II

To celebrate all that’s good about North Belfast and to showcase some work that’s going on to help with wellbeing this years event follows on from last year by providing a free family event on Sunday 24th September in Alexandra Park. A cross community family event with music fun activities for the children and much, much more.

The event is being run in partnership with Duncairn Community Partnership. Last years event attracted over 10,000 participants from all areas of North Belfast and this year we believe the event will be bigger and better than last year. The event is on the last day of good relations week.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council lights up buildings for Good Relations Week

Monday 18 September marks the start of Good Relations Week 2023.  Good Relations Week 2023, coordinated by the Community Relations Council, aims to deliver a positive message of togetherness as it celebrates peace-building and cultural diversity in an effort to eradicate sectarianism, racism and inequality across Northern Ireland.

Both Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre will be illuminated yellow on 18 September to mark the start of Good Relations Week

 

Breaking Bread

The Moving Up Moving On project within Forthspring Inter Community Group will host an event celebrating and enjoying bread from across the globe, embracing cuisine from different countries. Breaking Bread will include information about the countries and cultures from which the bread comes.

Armchair aerobics

Forthspring Inter community Group is hosting an armchair aerobics event to celebrate Good Relations Week 2022 on the 21st September from 10-11am.

This is an opportunity for older people from the Shankill/Woodvale and Clonard areas to come together to enjoy gentle exercise and meet people from different communities.

Mini Mela

In celebration of Good Relations Week 2022 a Mini Mela will be held in partnership with Belfast City Council, Northern Ireland Housing Executive & Dunmurry Community Association on Thursday the 22nd September from 6.30pm-8.30pm.

This will be an event bringing world music, dance and food together with various activities taking place such as:

  • Chinese Lion
  • Bollywood/Polish/Chinese/Mexican Dancers
  • African Drum Circle
  • Crafts from Around the World
  • Food Tasting from Around the World
  • Ice Cream
  • Tea/Coffee

 

Peace Ring Declaration

Building Bridges Community Boxing Club are honoured to have their boxing ring in the Macrory Centre, Duncairn Gardens designated as a ‘PEACE RING’.

In celebration of Good Relations Week 2022 there will be an unveiling of a plaque as an official recognition of the boxing ring in the Macrory Centre being dedicated as a ‘PEACE RING’.

The event will be held on Wednesday the 21st September at 5.30pm and will involve a sparring match, some food as well as a local boxer unveiling the plague.

Good Relations Visit to Kilmainham Gaol Dublin

As part of Good Relations Week 2022 Fountain Street are hosting a Good Relations visit to Kilmainham Gaol in Dublin on Saturday 24th September.

This event is part of our Reminiscence Group based at Fountain Street CDA in Strabane that has been funded via Derry City & Strabane District Council Good Relations Fund.

The participants are involved in a project titled “Looking back- Moving forward”.

This event is open to all local residents of Strabane.
