We Are The Change – celebrating culture and diversity through music

Falls Women’s Centre, Shankill Women’s Centre and Community Relations Forum are hosting an event on the 22nd September at 7pm which celebrates culture and diversity through music.

50 women from Falls Women’s Centre, Shankill Women’s Centre and Newtonabbey Community Relations Forum will take part in a cross-community social event in the Barron Hall.

This event will comprise of a presentation on drumming traditions, group discussion, and a buffet supper.

Bushmills Community Choices – Participatory Budgeting Workshop

Bushmills Community Choices is an exciting new project taking place in Bushmills & District hosted by Northern Area Community Network (NACN) with Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council.

Bushmills Community Choices invites bids for small projects that would benefit the community.

There is a total pot of £6000! This is broken down to two pots of £1500 and six pots of £500 and they are available for community
related projects. This is open to groups and individuals from Primary 6 upwards.

We are hosting information workshops to support groups/individuals in completing a bid form for their idea. These will be held in Bushmills Community Centre

  1. What idea do you have?
    2. Chat to some people about it and see what they think.
    3. Fill in this bid form. People then vote for the projects they think would be of most benefit.

Joint School Good Relations Day

For Good Relations Week Armoy Primary and St Olcans Primary School host a joint Good Relations friendship builder day on the 21st September with pupils from three invited primary schools all of which are from different backgrounds.

The aim of this event is to join together children from different backgrounds and build up relationships and friendships in a shared space.

 

KickOff@3 Tournament

KickOff@3 seeks to use Football sport and music to engage young people from all communities through the participation in tournaments throughout the UK.

The National Black Police Association brought the concept to Belfast in 2018 and with the support of PSNI and the IFA Foundation the 3rd tournament in Northern Ireland will be held this year.

Over 150 young people aged 15-17 will take part, with the winners qualifying for the grand final in London in 2022. Catrina Lewis, mum of Northern Ireland International Jamal Lewis is an ambassador for KickOff@3 and will be in Belfast for the event.

St Mary’s PTFA – Culture Evening

An interactive evening to re-introduce face to face events for the pupils who attend St Mary’s Primary School and their families.

This event will take place outdoor and will include events such as culture artists, live music and a few interactive games. This event is to encourage ‘Brighter Days Ahead’ for the school pupils.

Radius Housing & Clonduff FC – Good Relations Week Events 2021

Radius Housing & Clonduff FC are engaging children from the age of 3 – 13 years and promoting good relations on cultural awareness, promoting respect for diversity and raising awareness on racism through a range of interactive workshops x 4 groups per night. Topics covered include:

  • Drumming Against Hate
  • Creative Cultural Craft, Drug & Alcohol Awareness
  • Cross Community Football Tournament
  • Promoting Health Through Air

‘Deaf Voices’ Performance

The Foyle Deaf Association choir will perform a selection of their repertoire using the mediums of Irish Sign Language and British Sign Language. ‘Deaf Voices’ will showcase the talent of its Deaf performers and help celebrate cultural diversity and inclusiveness across all sectors.

International Big Breakfast

Radius Housing in partnership with Apex Housing are hosting live cultural performances on stage at Ranfurley House, Dungannon. Food will be available from 10 different  cultures and performances will consist of cultures from around the world who call NI home including; East Timor, Mexican, Chinese, Irish and Ulster Scots.
