Run by Causeway Council Good Relations
Four facilitators from four countries (Venezuela, Palestine, Ukraine and Nigeria) will be delivering closed cultural education workshops into primary schools across the Causeway Coast and Glens.
These workshops are for pupils of the following schools: Carnalridge PS, Portstewart PS, St John's PS and Killowen PS, Mill Strand PS, St Patrick's, St Colum's (and more schools outside of this week) only. There is no public access and members of the public cannot attend.
Facilitators range from individuals trained in workshop delivery, as well as representing their own organisation, such as Zilka from the Humanitas Initiative who arrived in NI from Venezuela in 2022. Her workshop is called "Everyone Is From Somewhere".
It is an interactive workshop about what it feels like to be the new one, and what the rest of us can do about it.
Through a guessing game about strangers, a game about how rumours travel, and a whole class activity, pupils discover that every single person in the room has been new somewhere. They then build a practical welcome plan together, and the session ends with dancing.
Each facilitator delivers a unique presentation to 13 schools each across September - November.
This is delivered by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council's Good Relations programme, funded by The Executive Office.
