LGBTQIA+ Awareness Training with The Rainbow Project

Run by NICVA

Free half-day LGBTQIA+ awareness training from The Rainbow Project at NICVA, open to anyone working in the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland. Two places per organisation.

The Rainbow Project invites you to attend their free LGBTQIA+ Awareness Training. Offered in support of Good Relations Week 2026’s theme, INCLUDE, this in-person session will give learners opportunities to broaden their understanding, challenge perceptions, and break down barriers.

Funded by the PHA, this half-day training opportunity is open to anyone working in the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland.

The interactive workshop gives an overview of:

LGBTQIA+ identities to increase understanding
Clarity on key language and terminology in regard to LGBTQIA+ people
The health and wellbeing needs for LGBTQIA+ people in Northern Ireland
The key barriers, bias, and discrimination impacting LGBTQIA+ people
How to grow in ability to become stronger allies to LGBTQIA+ friends, family, colleagues or loved ones

To ensure a range of organisations can attend, registration will be limited to 2 people per organisation.

This session is part of NICVA’s continued support for EDI, which includes raising awareness and creating opportunities to learn and enhance skills for voluntary and community organisations in Northern Ireland. The Rainbow Project is a member of NICVA’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Stakeholder Group.

Full details and registration are on NICVA’s page for this session, which is kept up to date — use “Book a place” or “Find out more”.
