Schools of Sanctuary Programme

The programme, which is supported by the Education Authority Intercultural Education Service, Belfast City Council and Belfast City of Sanctuary, has grown significantly since Blythefield Primary School in South Belfast became Belfast’s first School of Sa

This year, we are pleased to celebrate:

· 6 schools achieving their School of Sanctuary Award

· 5 schools receiving their School of Sanctuary Advanced Award

These achievements bring the total number of Schools of Sanctuary to 107 schools across Northern Ireland, including schools from the controlled, maintained, integrated and Irish-medium sectors. We are also especially delighted that this year will see the first special school achieve the award.
