PeacePlayers Inclusion in Good Relations through Sport - Coaching Training

Run by PeacePlayers-Northern Ireland

In this session, coaches will explore how we best serve the participants in front of us, through baggage-free, facilitative coaching practices. We will look at how to create safe, fun and inclusive spaces for all.

This interactive coaching training will explore how we can best serve the participants in front of us through inclusive, facilitative coaching practices. Coaches will consider how our own experiences, assumptions and “baggage” can influence the way we coach, and explore approaches that help us put the needs and experiences of participants at the centre.

Through practical activities, discussion and reflection, coaches will explore how to create safe, welcoming and fun sporting environments where everyone feels valued, included and able to participate. The session will also consider the role of coaches in using sport as a space to build relationships, challenge perceptions and support positive experiences across difference.

The training is designed for PeacePlayers-Northern Ireland coaches and anyone interested in developing more inclusive, participant-centred approaches to coaching and using sport as a tool for good relations.

Who is running it

PeacePlayers-Northern Ireland

PeacePlayers-Northern Ireland is a peacebuilding organisation that uses basketball and sport-based education to bring children and young people from across Northern Ireland’s historically divided communities together. Our programmes combine meaningful contact, relationship-building, peace education and leadership development to create opportunities for young people to examine perceptions, challenge stereotypes and develop greater understanding across difference. Through sustained participation, we support young people to build the skills, confidence and agency to contribute positively to their communities, promoting the simple concept of 'seeing people as people'.
