Speak Up, Step In

This play directly targets the theme of 'Include' by showing that good relations require proactive effort. Inclusion isn't just avoiding bad behaviour or posters on a wall—it is an active, daily choice to make room for others.

Performed by our Year 11 GCSE Drama class, this moving play follows a group of students who learn a hard lesson about inclusion. Though they never actively bullied their classmate, Jamie, their passive exclusion and silence ultimately drive Jamie to leave the school. Realising that "not being mean" isn't enough, the group—along with their teacher—confronts the hidden impact of micro-exclusions. The story ends with a powerful commitment to active inclusion: opening up social circles, pulling up extra chairs, and ensuring no one is left behind. Designed to educate and inspire our Key Stage 3 audience, the performance highlights how small actions can build a truly welcoming community.

Forging Peace: The REACT Peace Arch Project
